| For the first time in LSU’s history, the university is offering its students an opportunity to take classes during the winter break. LSU Continuing Education’s Extended Learning Office and Student Government announced the “Wintersession” term, which is open to currently enrolled LSU students. This will allow students an additional opportunity to take required classes and graduate on time. LSU’s inaugural Wintersession, or Winter Intersession, will be held from Tuesday, Dec. 19, to Saturday, Dec. 23, and Tuesday, Jan. 2, to Tuesday, Jan. 9. Classes will end Jan. 8, and final exams will be administered Jan. 9. Wintersession classes will meet for 3.5 hours daily, including Saturdays, for a three credit-hour course. There will be no classes during the university’s holiday break from Sunday, Dec. 24, to Monday, Jan. 1. Advance course scheduling and registration for Wintersession will begin on Sunday, Oct. 22. Students will register as they would for any other semester or intersession using PAWS. Students can view their scheduling-priority date indicating the day and time they can begin to schedule classes. Continuing students planning to enroll for the Wintersession must schedule their classes by 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, to avoid being assessed the $75 late-registration service charge. At present, more than 30 sections of classes are available to students. A list of these classes can be found on the PAWS Web page, www.paws.lsu.edu, or by visiting LSU’s Office of the University Registrar Web page, www.lsu.edu/registrar. For more information, contact Megan Poynot, LSU Student Government director of academics at sg@lsu.edu or 225-578-8727. -30- |
