| BATON ROUGE – Robert Newman, chair of the Department of Economics in the E. J. Ourso College of Business at LSU, was recently appointed managing editor of the Journal of Labor Research for 2007. Newman will take over as editor beginning in 2008. The Journal of Labor Research is a peer-reviewed journal specializing in academic research related to labor economics and industrial relations. The journal is published quarterly by the Department of Economics at George Mason University and The Locke Institute. Newman is a Mack Hornbeak Endowed Professor in Economics and has taught a variety of economics classes since joining LSU in August 1983. Robert Sumichrast, dean of the E. J.
