What do LSU faculty and staff collect? The LSU Museum of Art would like to know (and show)

11/23/2004 04:12 PM
The LSU Museum of Art would like to know (and display) what LSU faculty and staff collect.

The LSUMOA staff is preparing the first exhibition in its new space in the Shaw Center for the Arts, which is set to open downtown in March. The exhibition’s focus will be on collecting. While most of the exhibition focuses on LSUMOA’s collection, one section will highlight some of the interesting things LSU faculty and staff collect – bottle caps to yarn, baseball cards to miniature zebras.

The museum will hold “LSU Collectors Day” on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum offices in the Old President’s House, which is located on the corner of Highland Road and Raphael Semmes Road, across from the LSU Union.
Interested faculty and staff members should bring only one or two collection pieces. LSUMOA staff members will meet with the contributors, learn more about the collections and take photos of the collectors with their treasures. Nothing brought in on “LSU Collectors Day” must be left with the museum, but the museum would like to find some items that could be borrowed for the exhibition.
