BATON ROUGE – The LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurial Institute is hosting Invention to Venture, a workshop in technology entrepreneurship that is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at Boutin’s Restaurant. Boutin’s is located at 8322 Bluebonnet Blvd.

Designed for technologists, inventors and those with entrepreneurial ambition, Invention to Venture is open to science and technology students and faculty, as well as business people, entrepreneurs and investors interested in developing cutting edge technology.

According to SEI Associate Director Jarett Rodriguez, the workshop is a collaborative effort.

“This is a perfect example of how SEI, the Louisiana Business & Technology Center, the Emerging Technology Center and the Louisiana Technology Park are collaborating on projects,” Rodriguez said. “Through our combined strength, we have the ability to help businesses flourish.”

Topics for the workshop will include:
  • Idea Validation and Opportunity Assessment
  • Marketing and Sales for Early Stage Companies
  • Issues in Intellectual Property
  • The Perfect Business Plan
  • Raising Capital and Is Technology Entrepreneurship for You?

Registration for the event is $25 for undergraduate students, $50 for graduate students and $75 for faculty, staff and members of the business community. Fee waivers are available for the first 50 students and faculty who sign up. E-mail Jarett Rodriguez at jtr@lsu.edu prior to registering for more information. The deadline to receive fee waivers is March 14.

The Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, an integral part of LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, was formed to inspire, innovate, integrate and implement new ways of thinking, education, research and outreach to positively impact students, the regional economy, the state of Louisiana and the nation. Various programs help to address the issues and challenges of entrepreneurship, family business and franchising. A generous donation by LSU alumni Emmet and Toni Stephenson made the continued development of the college’s entrepreneurship institute possible.
