Teaching, research, and service are all essential components of LSU’s mission as Louisiana’s flagship institution. LSU’s service contributions encompass instruction, continuing education, research, service-learning, volunteerism, and more. This sense of outreach permeates the entire University and extends beyond its gates. As an urban institution, LSU is committed to use its extensive resources to solve economic, environmental, and social challenges. The Community University Partnership (CUP) exhibits the University’s commitment to community in a variety of these areas, with a concentrated focus upon Old South Baton Rouge and the neighborhoods immediately north of LSU's campus.
