LSU submitted its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), "Fulfilling the LSU Flagship Agenda: Enhancing Students' Academic Experiences through Scholarly and Creative Activity", on March 18 to the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) as part of the requirements for reaffirmation of accreditation. LSU developed its QEP to help achieve Objectives 2 and 3 of the Flagship Agenda. These Objectives address areas of improvement in graduate and undergraduate student learning. The QEP is now available to the public by clicking Quality Enhancement Plan on the menu bar of this website.
The QEP calls for dialogue and discussion during the Fall of 2004 as the QEP Task Force and various advisory committees are established to oversee the Plan - (see the Action Plan Timeline within the document). You are invited to read the document now and actively participate in the discussions. Share your thoughts, concerns, etc. about the QEP through postings on the Reaffirmation website Discussion Board or by sending comments by email to sacscoc@lsu.edu. You can also share your views on the Plan with your Faculty Senators, Staff Senators, or Student Government representatives.
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) takes the place of the traditional Self-Study prepared for past accreditations. The QEP is “…to lead to a course of action for institutional improvement by addressing a question or questions that contribute to institutional quality with special attention to student learning” (Principles of Accreditation, 2001). The QEP is intended to be an outgrowth of the institution's ongoing planning and evaluation process related to its institutional mission. The QEP supplements the institution's ongoing, integrated, institution-wide planning and evaluation processes and is not intended to supplant or replace these ongoing processes.
The QEP will continue to evolve with dialogue and discussion and with input from members of the SACSCOC On-Site Review Committee who will visit the LSU campus April 27 – 29, 2004. The primary task of the On-Site Reviewers will be to help LSU improve its QEP. The QEP will run concurrently with the Flagship Agenda to 2010. But, because the QEP is a Plan and not a static document, it will be flexible and subject to modifications.
A determination of LSU's reaffirmation of accreditation will be made by the SACSCOC in December of 2004. Information about the reaffirmation process is available elsewhere on this website.
