University Planning Council > History
In 1997, then Chancellor William L. Jenkins, led a planning group that developed a vision statement and strategic goals with performance measures for the University. Understanding that a mechanism for reasoned decision-making is critical to achieve a vision for LSU, the commitment was made to implement a continuous process that links planning and evaluation to the budgetary process.
To succeed in planning, Chancellor Jenkins wrote that the University must:
• first, foster an open dialogue among all stakeholders;
• second, develop, execute, and continually update University priorities;
• third, invest University resources based on informed decision-making; and,
• fourth, achieve real and positive change.
Hence, Chancellor Jenkins asked then Provost Daniel Fogel to actively lead the process and chair the University Planning Council. |
