The Interdepartmental Program in Linguistics offers an undergraduate minor. Student training is not handled by a single department, but instead is supported by faculty from seven different departments. Faculty participating in the program have a strong interest in achieving a better understanding of the nature of human language and how it is acquired and used, in order to address, and ultimately solve, the complex language problems of modern societies. They also have a strong interest in language issues that can be studied with the rich linguistic data that Louisiana has to offer. The M.A. and Ph.D. Programs in Linguistics have been closed and cannot accept any more student applications.
