The Executive Director of the Office of Facility & Utility Operations has direct responsibility for managing, installing, modifying and maintaining campus wide buildings & utility systems. This is accomplished through a professional staff which includes
- registered professional engineers
- degreed professionals,
- two Administrative Assistants
- several managers
- supervisors
- foremen and
- skilled craftsmen
totaling approximately 150. The building systems include air conditioning, heating, electrical, plumbing, gas, water, life safety, emergency generators and fire protection equipment. The utility systems include utility distribution (electrical, domestic & fire water, chilled water, sewer and drainage), natural gas, pumps and their related equipment, LSU 17 MW CoGeneration Plant (electricity, steam), LSU’s Central Utility Plant (steam, chilled water, hot water, compressed air), operation and maintenance of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine Complex and Energy Management-Building Automation Systems. The LSU Baton Rouge Campus includes over 400 buildings encompassing approximately 10 million square feet of floor space, 700 acres of landscape area, 70 acres of parking, approximately 12 miles of roads and associated drainage systems. The Office of Facility & Utility Operations has budgetary responsibility which approaches $20 million or more annually. |
