The LSU Landscape Services Department cares for the University grounds. It consists of Horticultural Management, Arbor Management, Grounds Management, Solid Waste and Recycling Management, and Drainage Systems Management. We are engaged in large area and detailed mowing, edging, and trimming, arbor care (pruning, trimming, planting), horticultural care, storm drain and drainage canal maintenance and cleaning, landscape project installations, irrigation design, installation, and maintenance, street and sidewalk repair and sweeping, concrete construction and maintenance, greenhouse management, tree management, solid waste management and recycling, litter pickup, and outdoor special events coordination and setup.
The main campus at LSU covers more than 1,000 acres with adjacent University owned properties of another 1,000 acres. Of this area 650+ acres are maintained to a manicured presentation. Another 200 acres are maintained to roadside and field standards. There are about 10,000 square feet of annual color beds on campus that require maintenance. Mature trees count well over 5,000.
