What types of services are provided by Facility Services?
Landscape services, renovations, table and chair rental, keys, repairs, custodial services, automotive repairs, estimates, HVAC, moving, interior design, provide general knowledge of campus design and layout, electrical services for events.
Who do I contact when I have a maintenance request?
Requests for services can be sent to work control through telephone (578-3186), online order form, fax (578-5597), or campus mail. Complete information is needed in order to process requests.
What is considered an emergency/routine call?
Emergency calls are those that involve potential threat or damage to life or property (gas leak, fire alarms, water leaks, etc.)
Routine calls are usually requests for services that can be scheduled (painting, light bulbs, keys, etc.)
Who do I contact when a job is incomplete?
Customer Services (578-3186) should be notified first. If problems persist, contact Shelia Davis at 578-5580 or Judy Hopkins at 578-5570.
What do I do when my office, lab, or classroom is too hot or too cold?
You can call our customer service number 578-3186. Also, building coordinators like to be notified of any facility problems and some will place the call on your behalf. All temperature calls are handled in the following manner: Once your call is received, a work order is computer generated with your requestor information: name, time and date of call, location, description of problem. The work order is immediately given to an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition) supervisor who has on-line access to our computerized energy management system and in the majority of calls, the HVAC supervisor can handle your temperature problem via the computer. In addition the HVAC supervisor has air-conditioning technicians that he can radio dispatch to your location. If there is going to be a delay in resolving your temperature problem you will be kept informed of the status by the HVAC supervisor.
How do I schedule air conditioning for my office?
Requests can be made by telephone, e-mail, or fax (578-5597). Provide the following information: Name, phone number, building and room/s, date and times the a/c needs to be on. A three day notification is required to ensure requests are properly scheduled.
How do I order keys?
All requests for keys should be sent by fax or campus mail only with the building coordinator or dean's signature. Include the amount of keys, room/s the keys are for, account number, and any other pertinent information. Note: key requests cannot be sent through e-mail.
How do I order tables and chairs?
Send a request with the following information: name, account number, dates and times needed, location items to be sent. To ensure that your request can be accommodated, a minimum of two weeks notice is required. During high volume seasons (football games, graduation, registration, etc.) it may be necessary for paperwork to be processed. Requestors are responsible for furniture security and proper care. Excessive damage will result in additional charges.
How do I obtain an estimate?
Requests for Estimate can be made on our web page or by requesting that a form be sent by fax.
Our department has some old furniture that we want to get rid of. Will Facility Services haul it away, and is there a charge for this service?
Disposal of old furniture and equipment is handled through the office of Property Management. Contact them at 578-6922 to make arrangements. They have a small crew that can pick up some items. If they cannot handle the material, then it may be necessary to contact Facility Services at 578-3186 and set up a Work Order.
Our department is expecting a large shipment of new equipment that will be packed in crates and large cardboard boxes. How do we dispose of this material, and will there be a charge for this service?
Contact Customer Service, 578-3186 and have a Work Order set up. We will pick up the material. We will recycle the corrugate cardboard and remove any trash. There is no charge for this service.
Our department has a large quantity of old publications and other printed material that we would like to dispose of, can this material be recycled and will we be charged for this service?
Most printed material can be recycled; however, we would like to examine it first. Contact the Recycling Hot Line at 578-5325 to have someone inspect the material. Normally there is not a charge for this service. Unusual clean outs, such as attics, may involve charges for the services. We will estimate the job first, and then advise your department of any charges.
We would like to have our carpets cleaned. Does Facility Services do this, and what will it cost?
There is no charge for this service. Keep in mind that we only have a small crew to serve the entire campus, and there is usually a large waiting list. Please notify us as soon as possible if you are making preparations for a special event.

What automobile truck repairs can you obtain for your State vehicles?
State inspections, oil changes, filter replacement, automotive repairs such as brake replacement, tune up, electrical repairs, belts, water pump replacement, radiator repairs, etc. The Facility Services Auto Shop is a full service repair facility located on campus which provides free pick up and delivery.
How long will the repair take?
Most jobs are completed within one work day, provided parts are available.
How much will the repair cost?
Our shop rate is $16.50 per hour plus the cost of parts.
Do you make road calls?
Yes, we have a vehicle that is set up to take care of most emergency repairs.
How do I get the lock for my office changed?
Your building coordinator should write a letter to Facility Services requesting that your lock be changed. It will take one work day to complete the project.
How do I get my door closure fixed in my office?
You can submit either a written request, or use the internet to request a work order. Repairs will be completed within one working business day.
How do I get bookshelves made for my office?
Put in a request to Facility Services Work Control. They will give you an estimate, and we will build them for you. This would be charged to your department.
My door is sticking and will not close, but I am out of town. How do I get this fixed?
Contact Facility Services Work Control by phone (578-3186) and explain the problem. They can reach our carpentry staff by radio and will send someone to the problem location quickly.
Can I get some landscaping or improvements done around my building? Who pays for it?
Most areas of campus are considered either academic or covered under a general funding agreement. Improvements are possible within limited budget capabilities at no cost to building occupants or departments. Special funding can be requested from Facility Services to improve specific areas with a more concentrated effort. These projects may or may not be funded based in availability of funds not under the control of Landscape Services. For more formal and sophisticated plans, calls should be placed to Facility Development.There, a Landscape Architect will be assigned to plan and estimate the project. There are currently two Landscape Architects on staff within the Facility Services group.
I need some work done quickly due to a special event in the building or some other function. What do I do?
Call Work Control (578-3186) and place a work order. Then call the Landscape Shop at 578-6460 and request the work. Many times we are able accomplish the work before the work order arrives.
Do you provide special event set up with flowers, podium plants, and indoor plants if necessary?
Yes. Events such as these should have some funding associated with them. Call Work Control (578-3186) to place the order and provide a funding account number. If the process needs to be done very quickly due to a compressed schedule, call 578-6460 and Facility Services will be able to begin the work before the work order arrives.
Do you provide routine indoor plant maintenance?
Yes. Call 578-6460 to arrange a time we can meet to determine monthly estimate on maintenance and the original set up charges.
I need changes to solid waste services or recycling.
Call Work Control (578-3186) and request someone to call you about details.
I need a litter container, cigarette snuffer, or bench at my building or entrance door.
Call Work Control (578-3186). We will discuss your needs and review the site.

Why do some of the outside lights turn off when people get near the lights?
This is the result of a faulty ballast. The faulty ballast usually has a small break in the internal wiring which makes contact when the light is turned on. As the ballast gets hot, the break expands causing the light to go out. After the ballast cools, the lamp relights, and the process starts over. The ballast must be replaced to correct the problem.
How do I get an exterior light repaired?
Call 578-3186 to report a lighting problem. Please be as specific as possible. Include the number on the pole if possible. Most exterior lighting problems are repaired within two business days.
How do I get new lights added?
Please call the Director of Energy Services to report the problem. Dark areas will be examined, and lighting will be improved if warranted.
How do I get the air conditioning turned on in my office when I come in at night or on the weekend?
Call 578-3186 and request the air conditioning be turned on. Please give the building name, room number, and expected length of stay. If after hours work is planned, call 578-3186 prior to 4:30 PM to have the schedule adjusted.
How do I get the schedule changed for my air conditioning?
Send a letter to Facility Services-Energy Services requesting the change. Please include the building and room numbers requiring the change, the requested hours, the reason why the change is requested, and the name of a contact person to discuss the change.
How do I get an excavation permit?
Come to Facility Services-Work Control to obtain a permit. Please provide a sketch of where the proposed excavation is to take place. The permit should be completed within two business days. After the permit is complete, the contact person will be called.
How do I report utility leaks?
Please call 578-3186 to report any utility problems. Please be specific on the location, and please report if there is a hazard (steam or gas leak, a large hole, electrical lines exposed, etc.)

Are tee times required?
Tee times are required on weekends and holidays. You can call on Wednesday at 7:00 am prior to the weekend or holiday to reserve a tee time.
What is the cost of hosting a tournament at the LSU Golf Course?

Weekend $2800.00- half-day rental
Included in these fees are 60 carts and all green fees. Please call for details regarding food and beverages.
Do you have drinking water on the course?
Drinking water stations are on the following tee boxes 5,7,8,14,16,18
Do you give rain checks?
Yes, we do issue rain checks. If you did not finish 9 holes you will be given a full rain check. If you finished the front nine but did not finish the back nine you will be given a 9 hole raincheck.
Are there any times that special rates apply?
Yes. We are currently offering a special rate Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am until 12:00 noon. |
