Hilltop Landscape Architecture Awareness Day ~ an event for high school students where they will explore the process of seeing and creating landscapes using the Arboretum as a design laboratory. The students will work from nature, models and their imagination to explore the concepts of form, color, model-making and graphic representation using various media. Funders include the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture. Other community partners are the Istrouma Boy Scout Council of America and public/private schools.

HILLTOP SUMMER ACADEMY ~ The Hilltop Summer Academy is a unique opportunity for a limited number of 4-7 year olds.  Hilltop Arboretum will be the site for child-pleasing summertime fun.  This educational and environmental experience will include nature walks while exploring the hills and valleys, tromping across bridges, organized games, music and movement, arts and crafts.

Municipal Tree Care Program ~ featuring topics such as tree planting & irrigation, basic pruning techniques, structural mechanics of trees, lightning protection & tree bracing, and chain saw safety. The program will feature Louisiana's best forestors and arborists, including Tom Campbell, Forester, LA. Dept. of Forestry; Ted Harbourt, Arborist, Marathon Tree; Richard Humphries, Arborist, LSU Landscape Services; and Glenn Wilson, Arborist, LSU AgCenter, Burden Center.

Junior Master Gardener Fall Day Camp ~
LA Master Gardeners and Junior League volunteers are designing new gardening activities and preparing fun, hands-on projects. The camp is open to kids who participated in the program in spring 2009 and any other interested children 7-10 years old. Attendance is limited, so please respond early. Two-Day Camp Fee: $50. Preregistration is required by calling Hilltop, 767-6916 or emailing hilltop@tigers.lsu.edu. Registration Deadline: Nov 6.
