IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT 403(b) ACCOUNTS
If you are an employee who is making tax deferred contributions to an annuity or custodial account, you are affected by new federal tax regulations governing 403(b) plans. To comply with the new regulations, LSU has been advised by tax counsel that it may no longer permit employees to make contributions to annuity companies that are classified as Legacy Vendors under the LSU System 403(b) Voluntary Retirement Plan (the "Plan"). However, all eligible LSU employees may make tax deferred contributions to 403(b) accounts established with Active Vendors.
The Systems Office has drafted and will be mailing a letter to all Employees who are currently contributing to a Legacy Vendor to let you know that if you wish to continue to participate in a 403(b) Plan next calendar year, you will have to enroll with one of the 4 Active Vendors: TIAA-Cref, ING Life Insurance and Annuity Company (formerly Aetna), MetLife and VALIC.

***In order to have a January 1, 2009 effective date, all paperwork MUST be submitted by the following dates:
Wage - January 5th
Academic - January 12th
Salary - January 22nd
SUPPLEMENTAL RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS
If you are interested in switching carriers for your Supplemental Retirement Account (403B) you are able to do this at anytime throughout the year. The carriers that offer 403B plans are AIG, ING, TIAA-CREF and Metlife. You must complete the required enrollment forms for the new 403B carrier that is selected and the Salary Reduction Authorization form to switch carriers. Information on how to switch carriers and enrollment forms are found below.
