Manship School Hosts Scripps Howard Academic Leadership Academy

From 2006-2008 the Scripps Howard Foundation funded and the Manship School has hosted a workshop for people who were considering academic administration or were very early in the process of assuming administrative duties. The program has drawn people from all over the country, several of whom have already stepped into positions as deans and department chairs.

In 2009, again with Scripps' generous support, the Manship School hosted an advanced series of workshops for those already in leadership roles. The Advanced Leadership Academy convened June 1-4, 2009 with 10 top participants from the past three Academic Leadership Academies as well as other academics and professionals new to academic administration. Speakers included Patrick Callan, president of the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education; Jerilyn McIntyre, former president of Central Washington University and Diana Cordova, director of the Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity at the American Council on Education.
