Browser Requirements
PAWS requires a Web browser that, at a minimum, supports frames, JavaScript, and cookies. LSU recommends using at least Netscape v4.06+ or Microsoft Internet Explorer v4. However, at this time Netscape 6.0 does not work with several PAWS applications. For more information about PAWS browser requirements, please click here.

Browser Settings
The following are some settings you may want to configure in your Web browser in order to improve your PAWS experience, especially when using PAWS e-mail.

1. Set cookies no higher than "Medium".
Tools > Internet Options > Privacy

2. To allow multiple users to share the computer, uncheck "User names and passwords on forms".
Tools > Internet Options > Content > Auto Complete

3. Uncheck TLS 1.0.
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > scroll to TLS 1.0

4. Set "Check for newer versions of stored pages" to Automatically.
Tools > Internet Options > General > Settings

5. Uncheck "Use proxy server for your lan".
Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings

6. To run some templates on PAWS properly, you must have JAVA Virtual Machine running on your computer.

System Security and Logging Off of PAWS
To prevent others from viewing or updating the information you have accessed, you must close your browser window or click the LOGOUT button. If you leave your browser software open without logging out, anyone else who uses your browser will be logged on to the system with your identity. It is also a good idea to delete the browser's memory cache and history file. For information on how to clear your browser's cache, choose Internet Explorer or Netscape.

Bookmarking PAWS Applications
For various reasons, LSU does not recommend bookmarking your PAWS desktop or individual applications.
