 | Appeals > How do I appeal a ticket?
An appeal of a parking ticket must be made with seven (7) calendar days from the date it was issued. An appeal may be made in writing or in person in addition to email. If a personal appeal is desired, an appointment must be made with the Hearing's Officer by calling 578-5020. Diagrams, maps, pictures or photos are allowed to be submitted with an appeal. Detail and clarity are critical factors that should be in any description or statement of appeal.
1. The ticket is to be appealed to whom it was issued or to whom the permit was issued if a permit was displayed. Statements from witnesses are permitted and they may attend a personal appeal with the Hearing's Officer.
2. Appeals based on the following are not acceptable:
- Ignorance of the regulation
- Stated inability to find a permitted parking space
- Operation of the vehicle by another person
- Stated failure of the traffic control officer to ticket previously for similar offenses
- Inability to pay fine
- Disagreement with the Traffic and Parking Regulations
To appeal a ticket, send an email to appeals@lsu.edu with the following information:
- Name
- ID/Acct Number
- Ticket Date(s)
- Ticket Number(s)
- Permit Number
- Mailing Address
- E-mail Address
