NEW Regulation: Public Law 109-295, the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS), was passed into law and requires action by those using, storing, or manufacturing hazardous materials. This includes Researchers, faculty, and staff on the LSU Baton Rouge Campus.Over 300 chemicals are listed in the applicable standard. See attached links for additional information on the topic. Ozone Action Days (link to action plans)
With the summer heat, we all must be aware of the potential for OZONE Action days. DEQ will issue OZONE Alerts which forecast the high potential that weather conditions are favorable for the formation of High levels of ozone. Taking preventive actions can help prevent this from occurring.
New Employees should receive safety training to ensure they understand their responsibilities in a safe environment. The “New Employee Orientation Guide and Checklist” should be reviewed with each new employee, and a copy of the completed Orientation form sent to Office of Occupational and Environmental Safety (O.E.S. 126 Public Safety Building)
