Brooke Taylor

Brooke Taylor, an LSU biological engineering graduate, works in the “happiest place on Earth.” She is the Water Sciences Operations Manager of Disney World’s Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Brooke traveled to Disney World frequently as a young child and dreamed of one day working with the “plants and animals.”
Brooke started her career path by participating in the Walt Disney World College Program and then continued her professional internship there. She recommends that students get involved with the college and internship programs even if they do not plan on working there in the future. The internship program gives students “real world experience” with mentors in their field of interest.
Being well-rounded is an important skill in the field of engineering. Brooke is a biological engineer, but there were times at Disney when she had to use mechanical engineering skills and even refer to her electrical engineering textbook. The job atmosphere at Disney is very diverse and keeps Brooke on her toes. She loves her job and likes knowing that she plays a little part in the excitement of the park’s visitors.
Just like every other Disney fan, Brooke has a favorite character. Walt Disney said, “My only hope is that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse.” Mickey is on the top of her list of favorites. She would not have this wonderful job without him.
