Career Assessments

An important part of the career decision making process is the identification of one’s interests, abilities, work values, and personality preferences. By increasing your self-awareness in these key areas, a more informed career choice can be made. To help you with this self-evaluation, Career Services offers multiple career assessments that can help you explore your strengths in these four areas. Click on the links below for information on these assessments. Included are test descriptions, test dates and times for the current semester, and information on how to register for these tests. For the tests that have fees, you can charge the fees to your fee bill, or pay by cash or credit card. If you would like to speak with a staff member to determine which test(s) would most benefit you, contact Career Services at 225-578-1548.

After you have completed an online assessment, we hope you will meet with a career counselor for an interpretation of your results. This is the best way to ensure that your participation in assessments is most fruitful to your career-planning efforts. To schedule an appointment with a Career Decision Making counselor, call 225-578-1548 or click here to use our online appointment scheduler, typically staffed 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The COPS is a pencil-and-paper assessment consisting of a comprehensive battery of tests that includes an interest inventory, a set of abilities tests, and a values inventory. • Tuesday, September 29, 1 to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 21, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

*Alumni and Community Member fees include one interpretation appointment

Registration and Payment Procedures: To register for the COPS, stop by B-4 Coates. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fees must be paid when you sign up for the test. You must sign up for evening tests no later than 4:00 p.m. the day of the test. Cash (exact change), check (payable to LSU Career Services), and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) are accepted. Assessments may also be charged to your fee bill. Upon paying for the test, you will receive a receipt. Please bring this receipt to the test as it will serve as your admission ticket. There will be no refunds; however, you may keep your receipt for a future test date. Please reserve your spot early because there is only room for 25 students in each session.

Results: The COPS takes approximately one week to grade. Once our office receives your test results, we will notify you either by phone or e-mail. At that time, you may schedule an hour-long appointment with a Career Services counselor who will interpret your results.
