Learn more about the Residential College Complex
Experience
The Engineering Residential College (ERC) - South Hall, which opened in Spring 2008, is one of the newest learning communities helping to develop the next generation of engineers and construction managers, who will face the technical challenges of a global economy.
Features
- The Engineering Residential College is open to students declaring a major in engineering, construction management, or engineering undecided, and who enroll in college trigonometry or calculus courses.
- Incoming freshmen will be given preference for participation in the program.
- ERC residents will have priority scheduling for a set of first year English, math, and science courses, as well as Introduction to Engineering (ENGR 1050).
- Onsite tutoring will be available as well as regularly scheduled academic advising with LSU College of Engineering counselors and faculty.
A prime goal of the ERC is to jump start students' professional development by quickly acquainting them with the College of Engineering. The ERC will be the hub for a series of activities and programs hosted by student chapters of professional engineering societies (BESO, IEEE, ASCE, ASME, AIChE, SAE, AIAA, SPE). In partnership with Career Services, the ERC conducts training programs on resume development, mock interviewing and host corporate sponsored events aimed at exposing students to internship, Co-Op and long-term career engineering opportunities.
