Freshman Interest Groups
Freshman Interest Group Initial Requirement Overview (Click Here)
The FIG Experience
Freshmen Interest Groups (FIGs) provide first-year students a way to make LSU feel smaller in this unique residential environment. Small groups of residents live together and engage in linked courses, develop and implement a student-designed community service project, interact with faculty outside of the classroom, and participate in several other activities in the designated theme of the FIG. We are excited to offer FIGs in the following themes: Adventure Leadership, Career Exploration, Health Science, and Women in Wellness.
Through the FIG experience we seek to:
- Enhance first-year students’ learning through integrated and intentional curriculum and co-curricular connections.
- Assist entering students in their academic and personal transition to LSU.
- Stimulate and support first-year students’ active participation in both the on-campus residential community and LSU community.
- Engage first-year students in the process of knowledge and skills acquisition through practical application.
- Stimulate and support first-year students’ personal growth and development.

Housed in McVoy Hall, students will explore together major and career options available to them.
