At the beginning of the twenty-first century, technological skills are essential in every professional career field from education to business to engineering. LSU’s Information Technology Residential College is a dynamic, technology-based program for entering freshmen of all majors and interests who recognize the need to develop their technological skills.
The program has been designed to
- enhance students’ technological skills;
- help students obtain technology-based jobs both on and off campus while they pursue an undergraduate degree;
- nurture a community of students who share a common interest in technology;develop students’ abilities to use technology in a variety of career fields and research settings
Required Courses
The I.T. Residential College has required courses for students living in the college for Fall and Spring semesters. (click on "Course Requirements" for details)
Smart classrooms mean smarter students.
Broussard Hall, home to the I.T. Residential College, is home to two high-tech or “smart” classrooms. Equipment includes interactive smartboards, digital cameras, wireless access, scanners, printers and more.
High-Tech Human Resources
Faculty
A devoted staff of I.T. faculty keep office hours in the residence hall, hold review sessions on site, dine with students in the cafeteria, and lead discussions outside of the classroom.
ITAs
Information Technology Assistants or ITAs are students who provide in-house tech support. Three ITAs are available for in-class assistance and study groups and during scheduled hours in the lobby and on the floors of the hall.
