 | About Volunteer LSU
Mission Statement:
“Volunteer LSU is the university’s center for community service and involvement. Our mission is to promote and coordinate volunteer opportunities, build partnerships within the community, and instill a lifelong commitment to service.”
History:
A year after Hurricane Katrina, we’ve learned a lot about what our campus community can accomplish when it joins forces to help others. That’s why this spring the LSU Union and Student Life and Academic Services set into motion a plan to create Volunteer LSU.
Volunteer LSU’s philosophy is simple: bring together students, faculty, and staff; alert them to meaningful service opportunities; and allow them to make their mark on the community. By creating partnerships with campus and community organizations and occasionally sponsoring our own service projects, Volunteer LSU serves as the clearinghouse for both those who are interested in helping out and for those who need volunteer help.
If you’re looking for the opportunity to lend a helping hand, or if your organization needs volunteer assistance, let us know. Sign on now at www.volunteer.lsu.edu or contact us at volunteer@lsu.edu.
